No matter what are we in… I still know that all of us, deep inside, want to believe in impossible things. I, for instance, believe in miracles and those who won’t open their her will not see it … As a saying goes “Those who don’t believe in magic will never find it”.
I also have a strong belief in psychics and I have visited many of them, over the years. These included tarot card readers, astrologers, numerologists, psychic-mediums, clairvoyants, etc. Some of them were accurate and others… I would rather forget about as soon as I left them or put the phone down.
Given the many unsatisfactory experiences I have had, I have to ask myself: Why do I still believe in psychics?
What I have learned
To engage properly with a talented psychic requires belief in a positive outcome.
For myself, I know that psychics have helped me overcome some challenging moments in my life. They have helped me with difficult decisions such as moving to a different country and making painful – but necessary – emotional changes in my life.
Psychics have listened to me when nobody else would: they heard my doubts and guided & assisted me in making difficult, often heart-breaking decisions.
These gifted people have also encouraged me to look at life from a different angle and have given me fresh and valuable perspectives and insights that I could never have reached on my own. I know I am in a better position in life as a result of their help and guidance.
How psychics help
Describing the feeling of how a psychic helps is difficult. We are all gifted with intuition, the feeling that something is right for us, without being able to explain why we know this. We call it “going with our gut”.
A gifted psychic helps to deepen this “gut sense”. Through an understanding of our real needs, psychics, in my experience, help us to bring our intuition to the surface: they give us the confidence to embrace and trust our gut instincts. They provide the assurance that our future is in our own hands and that we have the power to change our lives.
Gaining control
Recently I read a fascinating article from a group of Australian researchers. They offered the hypothesis that belief in psychic prediction can be positively correlated to a sense of control over one’s life.
Another new study has found that people who believe that psychics can predict the future tend to feel more in control of their lives than those who don’t.
These findings appeal to me – and tie in with my own experience: in the past, when I found myself going through a difficult time, going to a psychic allowed me steady myself and get on top of things again.
The answer to the question
I believe in the power of psychic consultation because I have proof that it works and is valuable. A psychic helps me gain clarity and insight, and he or she helps me feel in control.
Psychics have given me hope to explore and achieve what at first seemed impossible. That’s the kind of magic I believe in.
What a thought-provoking piece! It truly resonates with me, as I’ve had similar experiences with psychics. Their insights often seem to shine a light on paths I hadn’t considered before. It’s refreshing to see someone articulate this belief so eloquently.
‘Going with our gut’ sounds nice, but have you ever tried just… talking it out with friends? Seems much more effective than consulting someone who charges for their ‘insights.’
‘Those who don’t believe in magic will never find it.’ A charming sentiment indeed! But isn’t it also true that those who do believe might overlook reality? Balance is key in this discourse.
‘Going with our gut’? Ah yes, because nothing says rational decision-making like consulting someone who claims to talk to spirits! Bravo for the leap of faith!
What an uplifting perspective! The belief in psychics as a source of guidance is truly fascinating. It’s interesting how you find empowerment through this practice. Perhaps there is more to our intuition than meets the eye.
The correlation between belief in psychic predictions and a sense of control is intriguing. This aligns with psychological theories surrounding cognitive dissonance and self-efficacy. It would be fascinating to explore this connection further.
While your experiences with psychics are compelling, I can’t help but question the validity of such claims. Is it not merely a placebo effect at play? Belief can certainly influence perception, but does that make it real?
‘Going with our gut’ is indeed an intriguing concept! But I’m still waiting for someone to explain how gut feelings suddenly become prophetic insights after a tarot reading!
‘Miracles’ and ‘psychics’? Sounds like a formula for disappointment wrapped in wishful thinking. When will people learn that sometimes, life is just about facing reality?
‘Gaining control’ through psychic readings sounds like an excellent way to avoid personal accountability. Why confront reality when one can seek solace in mysticism?
Indeed, Tom! The psychological implications of belief systems are profound, and they warrant more rigorous academic inquiry.
‘I believe in miracles,’ you say? Well, if I had a dollar for every miracle I’ve experienced at a psychic’s hands, I’d probably be rich enough to fund my own skepticism class!
Absolutely, Phil! Belief can be both enlightening and blinding. It’s crucial to navigate these waters carefully.
‘Gifted psychics’? More like gifted in taking your money! At least they provide entertainment value while you’re at it!
While I appreciate the author’s perspective, it’s hard to ignore the fact that many psychics exploit vulnerable individuals. How can one distinguish genuine insight from mere coincidence or manipulation?
Your mention of the Australian researchers’ findings raises an intriguing point about psychological correlations. It’s essential to consider the broader implications of such beliefs on mental health and decision-making processes.
‘Those who don’t believe in magic will never find it’—isn’t that just the perfect excuse for those who might be duped? It’s almost poetic how easily we can convince ourselves of extraordinary claims with little evidence.
‘Psychics have helped me overcome challenges.’ That’s a profound statement! It illustrates how our search for meaning can lead us to unconventional sources for support and comfort.
‘Entertainment value’? You mean like watching a magic show where the magician’s assistant disappears? Because that’s about as real as these psychic consultations!
